Pawley’s Island, South Carolina

I stopped at Pawley’s Island on my way down to Charleston this morning. This is the setting of Dorthea Benton Frank’s book Pawley’s Island. She is my favorite author and all of her books are set in the South Carolina Lowcountry. I will be visiting other book setting locations this week as well. Pawley’s Island is strictly non commercial, with the shops and other businesses being across the causeway on Hwy 17. Other than being a great place to kick back and relax on a beach vacation, they are also known for the “Pawley’s Island Hammocks.

The other stop I made today was Georgetown, SC for lunch. This is a great little town with a boardwalk along the water.

Shops and restaurants line the boardwalk in Georgetown.
