Being in Europe was pretty surreal for a small town Minnesota girl, but actually being in Monte Carlo – the playground of the rich and famous was something else. They were setting up for the Monaco Grand Prix when I was there, so a few weeks later I got up early on a Sunday morning to watch part of the race on TV, thinking, wow, I was really there!

I wandered the grounds of Prince Albert’s Palace, went into the church where Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier were married, and of course, the Monte Carlo Casino where there were Lamborghinis parked outside . . .
