Bali, Indonesia

I am very excited to be going to Bali next summer! I didn’t think I would ever want to fly this far from home, but I may not get another chance so I decided to just “get on the plane!” I’m not going to like that long of a flight, but I will deal with it somehow. The flight from Los Angeles leaves at 1:00 am, so I’m sure I will be tired, and hopefully I can sleep on the plane.

It’s located in the Indian Ocean south of Singapore, and is about a 17 hour flight from LA, not counting the airport layover in Hong Kong. I will truly be on the other side of the world. Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. From the photos I’ve seen it looks gorgeous!

Some of the things I plan to do while I am there include a day cruise to Lembongan Island, mountain biking – downhill – through quiet villages and countryside, an elephant ride, which includes getting up close and personal with these magnificent animals, a tour to the Holy Monkey Forest, a cruise to the island of Nusa Penida, and if I have time, horseback riding on Sesah Beach, which has black, volcanic sands.

Be sure to check back at the end of June for posts and photos of this exciting destination!
