Kualoa Ranch and Secret Island Beach

Yesterday I went to the Kualoa Ranch and Secret Island Beach via many forms of transportation. The morning started with a ride to the ranch on a motor coach. After a short orientation on what I would be doing for the day I hopped on a horse named Sam for a trail ride. This was only my 3rd time horseback, but Sam was very gentle and did what I asked of him so all went well. The scenery was so beautiful up there with the view of the mountains and ocean. Part of me could have ridden forever, but the lower part of me needed to get out of the saddle when we got back to the corral!

After a buffet lunch of salads, rice, ribs, and chicken I boarded an old school bus for a five-minute ride down to the lower part of the ranch. There I got off and got on a large flat-bottom motorized canoe for a short ride across and 800 year-old, 125-acre fish pond. I was now at Secret Island Beach where I had two hours to do as I wished. After a half hour or so in the sun I got on a glass-bottom boat ride out into the ocean to see if we could see any sea turtles. Unfortunately, all I saw was one turtle come to the surface, but the boat ride was nice.

Back on the beach, I was lazy in a hammock enjoying the view for a while before returning to the canoe and then the school bus, and finally the motor coach that would take me back to Waikiki and my hotel. Sadly, I didn’t get to ride Sam again. I think my lower half would have been up for one more ride!
