St. Croix River Islands

These aren’t the kind of islands I usually write about, but I had such a great day yesterday canoeing around the islands in the St. Croix River north of Stillwater, just thought I’d share. The day was warm, humid, and sunny – just the way I like it! My canoeing partner and I launched at Marine Landing, paddled up almost to William O’Brien State Park and then very lazily floated back down, stopping at a couple of the island beaches just to relax.

The St, Croix River, which divides Minnesota and Wisconsin, flows into the Mississippi River and is a wonderful recreational spot all summer long for boating, canoeing and kayaking, swimming, or enjoying a lunch or dinner river cruise on the Andiamo paddlewheelers.
