Road Trip

I took a road trip yesterday. First stop was lunch at Muddy Waters in Prescott, WI. Prescott is where the St. Croix River meets the Mississippi – thus, the name for the restaurant. The deck overlooks the St. Croix and is just north of where the two rivers meet. The food was not bad (I had a shrimp roll – like a lobster roll, only with shrimp), the day a beautiful 75 degrees or so, and good to be out roaming around.

We drove down through Hager City, WI and crossed the river into Red Wing, MN. and then took Skyline Drive up to Memorial Park. The park is high up in the bluffs and has a bird’s eye view of the city and river. It has hiking trails and a 9-hole disc golf course. Another scenic overlook is Barn Bluff, but you do have to hike to the top of that one. There are four different trails with hiking skills between easy and difficult. The longest hike is 2.27 miles roundtrip from the main park access.

After a stop at a park bench in Levee Park, we were back on the road heading to Hastings where we hiked along the Vermillion River near the remains of an old mill.
