I started out of the Twin Cities in shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops, but by the time I got to Duluth for a picnic lunch by the lake, I was in Jeans and sweatshirt. After a really quick, chilly lunch at a park by Lake Superior, I was heading to Grand Marais. A little bit north of Beaver Bay there is a really nice rest area with a beautiful building complete with a large fireplace. It was tempting to curl up on the couch next to it for awhile – Is it really August??  It continued to be a cloudy, cool, rainy rest of the day and evening, so I settled in at the Mangy Moose Motel in Grand Marais.
