Today started off cloudy and foggy, but not terribly cold. I had crab cake eggs benedict at The Pie Place restaurant for breakfast. It was one of the best meals I’ve had for breakfast – totally worth the drive all the way up here. From there I did some agate hunting at Paradise Beach – about 12 miles north of Grand Marais at mile marker 123. I don’t think anyone finds large agates there anymore – without getting out into the freezing lake anyway – but I did find a couple small ones.
Once back to town, I did a ton of walking and hiking out on the rocks out by Artist’s Point and the light house. And then after a short visit with some people I know who were staying at the campground in town, I went hiking up above Grand Marais off the Gunflint Trail.
Dinner was a smoked salmon wrap and I dragged my exhausted self back to the Mangy Moose.
