Treasure Island, Florida Day 2

Day two was an awesome day! A few walks on the beach and then a boat trip this afternoon with Charter Finders to Shell Island Preserve. Dolphins swam right next to the boat which was really cool to see. The island can only be accessed by boat, and they don’t call it shell island for nothin’! I brought back a bag full of shells. Charter Finders leaves out of the marina by Seadog Brewery, so when we got back I stayed for a lobster roll for dinner.

Then it was time to stop back at the hotel so I could get on to my next adventure – a glass bottom illuminated kayak tour! Sharky’s Glass Bottom Tours is one of two tour companies that offers illuminated glass bottom kayak night tours (the other one is in the Keys). Even though we didn’t see many fish it was a pretty awesome experience being out in a kayak at night – and it was a beautiful evening for it. We paddled through the back bay across from the Don Cesar hotel, past “bird island” which is a very small island with a bunch of trees where birds nest at night. I hadn’t ever heard of kayaking at night before so very glad I got a chance to do it.
